# Commands

> Every demoman command, its flags, and the environment variables it reads.

## setup

```bash theme={null}
npx demoman setup
```

Downloads Chromium (about 190 MB) and connects Demoman to Claude Code, Codex,
Cursor and OpenCode. See [Agents](https://demoman.io/docs/agents.md). In a terminal it first asks which agents to
connect, the export quality and the pull-request setting; run it again to
change them. A flag answers its question, so it is not asked; without a
terminal (a script, CI) nothing is asked.

| Flag | |
| - | - |
| `--yes` | Asks nothing and keeps the current settings, as without a terminal; agents run setup this way |
| `--agents <list>` | The agents to connect, comma-separated: `claude`, `codex`, `cursor`, `opencode` |
| `--quality <quality>` | Export quality: `share`, `high` or `full` |
| `--pull-requests <value>` | Pull-request videos: `off`, `ask` or `attach` |

## signin

```bash theme={null}
npx demoman signin <url>
```

Opens a window to sign in to your app once, so agents can record behind the
login.

```bash theme={null}
npx demoman signin --account <name> [--site <origin>] [--project <dir>]
```

Signs in as a demo account from `.demoman/accounts.json`, to check it or to
sign in on CI. See [Authentication](https://demoman.io/docs/guides/authentication.md).

| Flag | |
| - | - |
| `--account <name>` | The account in `.demoman/accounts.json` |
| `--site <origin>` | Which site's account, when two sites have one by that name |
| `--project <dir>` | The project whose `.demoman/` to read; the current folder by default |

## studio

```bash theme={null}
npx demoman studio [take]
npx demoman studio --stop
```

Opens the Studio, on a take when you name one, or closes it with `--stop`.
See [Overview](https://demoman.io/docs/studio/overview.md).

## mcp

```bash theme={null}
demoman mcp [--out-dir <folder>] [--headed]
```

Serves Demoman's tools on stdio. Your agent runs this; setup and the blocks
on [Agents](https://demoman.io/docs/agents.md) name it.

| Flag | |
| - | - |
| `--out-dir <folder>` | Where exports are saved; `~/Downloads` by default |
| `--headed` | Shows the browser while it records; it records out of sight by default |
| `--headless` | The default, accepted so older setups still start |
| `--browser` | Retired: `--browser extension` is refused, since the Chrome extension was archived; remove it from the server's registration |

## `--version`

```bash theme={null}
npx demoman --version
```

## Environment variables

| Variable | |
| - | - |
| `DEMOMAN_HOME` | Where Demoman keeps its takes, sessions and settings; `~/.demoman` by default |
| `DEMOMAN_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1` | Turns off the once-a-day check for a newer version |
| `DEMOMAN_SECRET_<NAME>` | A demo account's secret, on CI |
| `DEMOMAN_SECRET_<NAME>_ORIGIN` | The one site that secret may be typed on |
